Hub Socket

Sweet! Let us know what ya get. My Mac Tools one is slick. There is a 4-pin ring on the main socket, then there's an outer sleeve with the 6-pin ring. They don't interfere with each other at all in use.

Why scrrew around when the socket is so cheap.... I've done the hammer and screw driver when I was out in the boonies........

I got what at Autozone for 15 bucks.

Who are you replying to?

The guy that was quoted $80 lives in SWEDEN. Things are a bit different in that part of the world. :eek1:

wow....

80 BUCKS????- :eek1: :eek1: -Glad I live in the USA!!...they cost 10 bucks at autozone here..I'd be grinding or filing down a peice of pipe if they cost that much here...its not too hard to invent one--my first one was made in a hurry out of an old tailpipe!.. ;)

I'd use the socket--it saves greif by avoiding boogerd threads on your spindles from using a punch, and more importantly, you will be able to TIGHTEN the outer nut securely so your wheels cant fall off..

I've used the hammer and punch butcher method before, but I could not tighten the outer nut enough, and it came off a few days later..wasn't a fun ride at 65 mph when the drivers side wheel lost both spindle nuts and the only thing holding the wheel and rotor on was the disc brake caliper! :eek1: :doah: ...that ride convinced me it was well worth buying a socket..sometimes it pays to use and have the right tools for the job--this is definately one of them!

yep 80 US dollars ..and it wasn't even a Snapon...

the plan is , find a pipe in the right size then weld a plate at the end and then a cheap 1/2 socket so i can use my torquewrench with it...

Been there done that.

Parts & tools for the general are costly here in germany. :wink1:

My front socket is self made. Now I ordered the lisle combination socket with other stuff at Skyway tools

Parts are $52.- and shipping to germany is $25.- Then there will be tax and customs (about $20-$30).

Other thing is, if I want to buy a used G-wagon, I'll have to rob a bank first.
