Anyone ever thought to put selectable hubs on a 14bolt I thought about it today and seemed pretty cool but How could anyone do it? Just an idea. 1982 K10 Silverado. <img src=http://coloradok5.com/forums/images/icons/cool.gif> 327 SHPE powerplant SM465/205,15"custom lift 38.5"TSL/SWAMPERS 12boltrearD44 front,3.73 gears.
Edited by 1bigk10 on 12/24/01 06:43 PM.

You would need custom axle shafts, with splines at both ends. You'd probably also need to run external style locking hubs, as there isn't much room for the mechanism inside the wheel hub of a 14-bolt FF. The locking hub would probably need to be custom made as well, unless you could figure out how to redrill the hub to accept the locking hub body from another application.

It's a great day to be alive...

Why? If you were looking to drag a vehicle for a distance I could see the benifit, but it would be just as easy to pull the axles. I just had some new Freight Liner tractors delivered at work, and the factory just piggy-backed them (picture trucks mating). A mount connects the fifth wheel to the front axle on the dragged truck. The dragged truck axle shafts were pulled with a replacement cover bolted on to keep the oil in.

Real trucks don't have spark plugs!

Thats exactly what i was thinking thanx for your input
