Huge about of sludge under valve covers on SB 350

[ QUOTE ]
here is my question....WHY is it Penzoil? I always here this kind of stuff, like armor all will crack your tires and dash, penzoil will ruin your engine, etc.....where is the PROOF? /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif Honestly, I have always used penzoil and have yet to find the "sludge".... /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif

Don't know much of the facts behind it, but I have seen several motors..all ran on Pennzoil (don't know about the maintenece records, but always had Pennzoil in them) that were FULL of sludge. I was told it was because Pennzoil was a perafin based oil???? Don't ask me what the hell that means, but that is what I was told.

Pennzoil is no longer made with a paraffin base, that was a long time ago but the myth is still going.

Even so, from what I understand, a lot of oils were paraffin base back in the day.

Quaker State an Pennzoil are the same oil anyway.

If your oil is full of sludge it is due to not changing it often enough, not what oil you use. Damn near all conventional motor oils have exactly the same additives in them with very minimal differences in the quanities. This is all specified by the API anyway.

Quaker State and Pennzoil are both Pennsylvania grade crude, whereas you Valvoline, Castrol, Kendall oils are a Texas grade crude. Pennsylvania crude has more parafin in it, and they are more likely to sludge the engine when not maintained properly. i religiously run Castrol in mine.

i use an industral laquerthinner, not the stuff you buy at the hardware store that is watered down, find a comersle paint suply or bodyshop supply, get a 5gal bucket, costs me 35 bucks cad.

get a rubbermaid tub for washing dishes, test anything plastic first. just wet you finger with it, and rub it it gets sticky no good. i use a hige quality paint brush and just soke and brush grease away. this stuff will degrease anything! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
