H2's use the 14 bolt semi-floater corporate GM axle. These have been used extensively in GM 3/4 tons from about 1981- current. As far as gears, I'm sure Hummer's website lists the available ratios. 
Are they strong enough for a Blazer? Yes. There are a few here on CK5 that have used them with success.
They are not as strong as the 14BFF, but much better than a 10 bolt.

have to remember you'd have to strip a lot of crap off the axle, the H2s have a 4 link rear setup.
