Hunting instead of wrenching?

Nice. Haven't gone hunting yet but got a taste of it last weekend when I flew out to Eastern Oklahoma to help my FIL set up deer camp. It was a long, full day process but well worth the comforts of the setup he has. I'll be out there on Nov 19 for the 21st openning day war on deer.
this should probably be in the lounge. Or for the tech of it we drove up to the camp in a furd f250 crew 4x4.

Heres some pics of our camp this year and the Argo. Gonna be going back up this friday for a couple days still have white tail doe, buck and a bear tag to fill..
Dammit George. I can't see the pics on my work computer. Guess I gotta wait 'til I get home on my PC. I got hunting fever after setting up camp last weekend.

I have spent two weekends hunting instead of wrenching. First was more party than hunting as it was way too hot. Last weekend I spent Friday-Sunday hunting all day. I wish we had doe tags, as all I saw were does and spikes. 2 of my friends got nice bucks though, including one who was only 500 or so yards away from me.

No stick and string luck the first week or so I got back to wrenching to get ready for a ride this weekend. Gonna miss the first weekend of boom stick hunting.

What did you use to take those moose? If it was a rifle what caliber?

I use a Remington 7400 .30-06 for moose.
6.5x55 is the weakest allowed caliber for them, but I think that's a little too weak.
And I must confess I didn't shoot any of the them in the pictures
I just helped dragging them out of the forest with my 2500.
I hope for better luck this year

What are these "tags" you speak of?
Tags. Typically in most states, you have to buy a hunting license. Then depending on what time of year and game you want to harvest you have to buy a "tag" whether it is for deer, bear, mountain lion, moose, etc. Basically, depending on the state you hunt in you can only take that specific game for the tag you have. IE, you can't take a doe (female deer) with an antlered deer tag and vise versa.
Been out trophy sheep hunting, and upland game bird hunting, but have been remarkably unsuccessful in both... Boom stick season for Deer opens in my favourite WMUs on November 1st

Deer hunt general season opens next weekend, although my permit is for an area that doesn't open until the Wed. after. This means I will have 5 days to get my deer. There was a major fire on the other side of the range that should have pushed most over to the side we are hunting this year.
Currently scrambling to get everything ready. 4x4 got fixed on Krusty last weekend, this week and next is focused on getting the 'new' trailer ready for the hunt. Managed to get the heater working as radiant, may have the fan working tonight. Carpet going in this weekend, and then loading it up and getting it licensed. Sighted my Ruger M77 in Tuesday, and have ammo ready to go.
