Hutchinson double beadlocks

I'm pretty sure they do. I had the rims out of the box but haven't separated the outer ring from the wheel. Theres 16 nuts to remove from each rim. I put them all back in the boxes and in my bedroom for storage now. I will get one out and take it apart to see what all is there.

I'm thinking about going by that place tomorrow and seeing if I can find out who brought them there. Maybe they have more.

Edit: I just saw the new set up for bid. I'm definitely going down there tomorrow.

What tire are they for? When I called about getting a set from Hutchenson, they told me I would have to send them a tire and they would machine the rim for that tire and it would not fit another tire manufacturer's tire more then likely. This is the reason I didn't go with them. Also I wanted to run a wider rim and 8 was just not wide enough.

gotta call BS on that, it may be a problem with like military michelins, as the sidewall is super thick, but on most tires the rubber insert should probly work fine...

unless this is ALOT more complicated than it looks
but even if it didnt fit because the sidewalls were too thick, couldnt you cut down the insert?

I checked the feedback on Fast Sell and they appear to have sold 8 sets of these rims so far. So someone keeps bringing another set in after each one sells. I'm assuming a tire shop or someone who deals with take-offs.

That was my thought as well. There is also a tire guy up in Phoenix that posts on Craigslist every few weeks that sells the 37" Military Goodyears for $200 a set. I called him one time and he says he gets them quite often and that they go fast.

You can call BS all you want but that is what I was told by Hutchenson. Since I would be limited to basically what they said would be one tire I said hell no I wont buy them. I was ready and willing to spend the money. I went with OMF bead locks.

thatk30guy, I hope they work out for you.

I don't even know what tires or size I want to run, nor do I know what truck to install them on either. I bought them because the price was right and I didn't know how many the seller had, so it was the right time to snatch them before he ran out.

I have no plans or desire to run military Michelins either.

How often is it necessary to replace the o-rings? I am just wondering how hard it will be to find 16" o-rings. I imagine the 16.5" o-rings will be readily available from military surplus scources and such but what about the 16" o-rings?

No clue. Why not find a number or addy on Hutchinsons site and see what they say?

Do these beadlocks clear the stock front calipers on a D60? I know 16" steelies look pretty tight and aluminum rims generally run thicker.

Folks, I have all the answers about the where and the from who. For about four years I was the sales territory manager for American Racing Wheels here in AZ and the wheels are coming off Arizona Border Patrol chevy 2500's. The border patrol has like 1500 trucks in AZ and a few hundred had hutchinson beadlocks on them, I remember seeing them at a customers shop back in the day. At that time the border patrol was working with me on a quote to replace all of them with black steel wheels as they were constantly breaking them out in the desert. The dealers I called on that handled the border patrol said they were a big pain in the ass because they didn't hold up and were constantly in for wheel replacements, and they were sold under a special contract direct through the chevy dealers at about $1000 per wheel. One of the dealers said they would regularly get trucks in with multiple broken wheels or they would be doing a few wheel replacements on the same truck every week.

The trucks they were on all ran 285/75/16 MTR's and the trucks I saw really didn't look to be all that overloaded, maybe another 1500 lbs of equipment over stock. I left American Racing about a year ago and so I'm guessing that they did the full swap out as they were very very serious at that time about getting away from them, and I bet somebody ended up with a big pile of wheels they bought for scrap value and is laughing all the way to this ebay sales store. Has anyone that bought these installed and wheeled them? According to my customers they said other than being light weight they couldn't hold a candle to the old hummer beadlocks that are still around. What has everyones experience been with them off road?

I asked one of my old shops if there was anyway I could purchase a set of the take offs "under the table" and they did everything in their power to talk me out of that idea. I'm interested in hearing from those that are running them, as I'm considering a set of the old tried and true Hummvee wheels.
