I have a gm 10 under the front of my k20 and i was going to beef up some instead of forking out the money for a d60 at the moment. As to the research i have done from the ball joints out is all interchangeable with d44. I wanted to put d44 ball joints and knuckles on the gm 10 bolt if they will work and im going to put chromemoly axle shafts as well. Does anyone have any insight or experience with this application.

Ummm, why? Pretty sure there is no real difference between the parts......though I guess 44>10 so it's better:rolleyes: I'm not 100% sure right off hand but wouldn't be surprised if the axles used the same part number for the ball joints.

just about everything from the knuckle out is the same between a 10 bolt and a 44.

When I had my blue 84, I had a 10 bolt with 44 outers on it till I got ahold of a good dana 44 that had 4.10s.

I thought the front 10b used D44 outer parts anyways. :dunno:

Either way, I don't think there will be any strength gain. The weakness is in the diff size and axle shafts.

Well one of the ears where the tierod connects is broke so i wanted to replace them both with flat top knuckle for cross over steering in the future.

Flat top knuckles will swap over with out any issues. Again as other have stated there really is no difference between a 10 bolt and a Dana 44 other than the carrier.

The only real difference between a D44 and a 10 bolt knuckle is the direction that the tie rod goes into the knuckle (can't remember which is which but one goes in from the bottom and the other from the top side).

Pretty sure the 10 bolt tie rod goes in from the bottom and the 44 tie rod goes in from the top on most years. That's why it's good to get both knuckles as a pair if you get them from the junkyard and can't remember which way your tie rod goes in. That happened to me and I ended up with the wrong one.
