2 days ago I started noticing a "whoosh" sound coming from where my brake pushrod goes through the firewall. This sound only happens when I turn the steering wheel, and I also noticed that the brake pedal drops about 1/4" or so when this happens. I've checked the ps fluid level a couple times and it isn't low. There are also no leaks or abnormal characteristics of the steering or brake functions other than the noise that has surfaced. Does anybody know what's causing this noise and how to get rid of it?

I dont know jack Sh** about H-boost.

But. the Whoosh.. kinda sounds like it would be the booster/pump failing ?

That or there could be a pocket of air caught at the booster, so when you turn the wheel and the pump flows more it causes a vacuum to accumulate at the highest point in the system. I'd try cracking a line at the hydroboost and see if you can't bleed any air out. Just a thought.:waytogo:

While turning the steering wheel

That is the pump not keeping up with the flow needed to keep applying pressure.

My suggestion, replace the powersteering pump and master, and rebleed the system with new fluid.

I was kind of leaning towards a bad ps pump. The noise only started last week and seems to be worse as the fluid warms up. If I replace the PS pump I'm going to use one off a Freight Liner. More pressure and more volume can't be a bad thing

if it gets worse when the fluid warms up it's the pump.
You should have started with that.:D

Unless you exceed the limit of any other part of the system, i.e. the seals in the hydroboost unit and/or steering box.

Been there done that by modifying a stock pump.
