Hydraulic assist ram question

I just cut the end off my surplus ram to twist it and weld it. I see alot of people weld it back so that the fittings are pointed straight back, why not angle it back alittle more so that the fittings rolled back some more? Weld the end on about 45* from its original location instead of 90*.

The fittings really just need to be on top to help with bleeding.
