Rock Logic 1.5"X8" ram



I don't know how I lived without it before! I can turn lock to lock on pavement without even straining myself. And the death wobble appears to be gone. I can feel it just barely start to try and then it disappears.

What pump mods did you do? How does it drive? Mine is sooo vague it's scary! I've disconnected my ram untill I get this steering sorted out. Can't believe x over is always this vague! My 1 1/2" ram seemed slow so it'll be good to know what pump mods you did.

I havn't done any mods on the pump....... yet. The response isn't bad, but it's not like my Camaro either... At any rate, anything's better than the steering wheel cycling back & forth 3 times per second

Where did you get the stuff? Was it a kit? If so, are you satisfied with how "complete" it was?

I got it from Rock Logic 4x4 They sell kits, but I wanted to do my own hoses & such (and it worked out a little cheaper that way too). Then my friend drilled & tapped my steering box for me while showing me how to do it.

Their kit is $250 and contains 4 mounting tabs, 2 hoses and the ram with heims. The ram & heims by themselves is $190, I ordered 4 mounting tabs ($2.50/ea) and then went to my local hydraulic shop and spent $38 on the custom hoses.

I have to give the owner (Seth) props too. Someone there screwed up and shipped me the wrong size, and UPS lost it, so it took 2.5 weeks to get here. When I finally got the wrong one, I had 4 days to finish my truck before we leave to go riding over Memorial Day weekend. He very kindly overnighted me the right size ram so I could get it going. I have had all my parts for at least 6mo and they are still on the workbench . Here you get your stuff lost, late and still manage to complete it in time for wheelin'.

Just be aware when you go to bigger tires. The position of your hoses on the box has been known to be a vulnerable one for larger tires rubbing them and ripping them off.

MTWheeler - If it weren't for Mark (the VP of our club) and his willingness to lend me his welder (and welding skills) to finish this for me I would have been SOL. Bill went out of town and was going to help me but because the ram was late he was already in MOAB before I got the ram.

Also, don't feel too bad, I have parts that have been on my bench for going on 2 years that I want to get put onto here. I have a complete Hellroaring dual battery setup that keeps getting back-burnered in lieu of things like 1-tons, fixing steering problems, death wobble, brakes, onboard air, etc.

muddybuddy - What upgrade do I need to do to my tie rod?

Esteban86K5 - I set my stops so there was no chance that on full compression of the suspension and my wheel turned to the stop it still had plenty of room to not rip those hydraulic fittings out of the box.

What size fittings are you running? Are they -6 or -4 is the box tapped to 3/8 or 1/4?

Got all of the engine wiring routed & clipped last night, gonna work on the dash tonight, then the seats. Once that's all done, in comes the doors, hood and glass. Then comes the bed chop & splice, then mounting. Then comes the fuel cell/tank, and then tying up all of the loose ends like seat belts for the rear seat, etc. All of this by Divide Ride, plus modifying my new 1972 camper and it's jacks to fit my dually.
