Damm thing keeps leaking from the area where I tapped it. No matter how much I torque on the fitting it keeps leaking, tried pipe tape to no avail. Any tips on stopping leaks. :angry1: It is a stock box that I had a machine shop tap.

Is there a small crack in it from over tightening the fitting? I did that on a water pump once. :dunno:

No cracks

No I still have a small bit of thread showing still. I am just worried about over torquing the fitting. No cracks that I can see.

still leaking.

Tried blue thread locker, pipe thread, and pipe dope to no avail. Anyone?

Any chance its just not leaking from there?
I'm assuming it is a fitting screwed into the box with a hose screwed onto the fitting. Try cleaning the area real well, wrap a clean paper towel around the fitting without it touching the threaded part coming out of the box.
Crank the engine and watch for fluid to show up on the towel.
A leak real close to where you think it is, especially under pressure, can sneak over and make you think its coming from somewhere else.

About the only other possibilities, are a non-tapered thread on the fitting, or a crack.
If there is not one in the box, there might be one in the fitting.

any chance they tapped the hole too deep? The NPT threads are tapered, and if it's tapped too deep, you won't be able to get a proper seal.

Hose blew off took out the threads on the fitting and hole. Gonna trade it in under warranty and try again. Soaked my buddy in power steering fluid.
