1 have a 1987 1ton it has the stock hydro-boost brakes and steering already together i was wondering will adding the hydro-assist ram work with this setup as opposed to regular style like k5s have. thanks

i'm swapping in both hydroboost and assist...

I'm going to use a smaller boar ram... like a 1 inch...
i figure less volume and pressure perhaps...

Your gonna get mixed reviews...
Some say it is too much for one pump...
some say it works great...

I'll do it.. and replace my pump with a better one eventually...

I run Hydraboost and ram assist with an 1 3/4" ram with no issues whatsoever. I drilled and tapped my box. I run a stock Ps pump off of an 89' 1 ton. It is un-modified with the factory remote reservior. I found lots of mixed reviews but decided to try it myself and love it. I also moved the factory PS cooler in front of the radiator so it could get some air flow instead of being under it. Just my two cents.

I run this setup too. My topcap is tapped and my endcap is from JKW, same size ram and I run a modded Hydroboost pump (increased pressure and flow done by me) added a remote rez to my existing rez and a tube type cooler.

I have no issues with mine other than mounting the cooler upside down and getting air trapped

whats a good ram size im going to be doing a lot of rock crawling and still going to drive it on the road though. thanks

1.5" bore, 8" stroke (for a D60).

Its about 50/50 whether you will have trouble running hydroboost and hydro assist on a single pump. I guess you won't know until you try it.

87Chevy, if you do it, post up your results. I'm thinking of doing the same thing this summer, and I have heard mixed reviews as well.

Trey and Dik, do you run 'em on the road? Does a 1 3/4" ram reduce the speed of your steering response? I am thinking if going with a 1.5" ram to keep it from being too slow, but that is just a guess. I'd like to hear your experience.

on the remote...

I'm guessing it's on the NON pressure side...

Is it just a can with a in and out???

Well if you count the lid an in then yes:D.

It is just like the remote rez on any Chevy diesel or 1 ton truck. I have a chrystler grommet that connects a hose from my can style on my pump up to the remote rez. It is the same principle as adding a piece of radiator hose to your existing rez for added volume.

quick ? since i stripped a k30 and got axles, sector, hydrobrake setup,pedals,etc.. i plan on putting the hydo brakes on my k5 when i swap my 3/4tons out for the 1 tons.....is there a diff in steering sector from a hydrobrake truck and 1 w/vacuum brakes?

I run an 1 3/4" ram. I don't drive my truck on the street much except to and from trails. I am very happy with the response of the 1 3/4" ram. I was also worried about it being slow but I have been very pleased and reccomend the 1 3/4" PSC ram. PSC is worth the dough to me.
