Would it work? i want to do hydro assist but no crossover yet, so i was wondering if i could run it as a full hydro system ONLY offroad

you can do std push pull with hydro assist.

and you would need full hydro orbital valve for that to work. as assist is just that assist.

but i could be wrong and someone will chime in if i was.

Well it has to work a little... you would think. seeing how it adds a TON of power

I think the problem is that the hydro cylinder/steering box/pump bleeds off a bit of fluid/pressure so your tires will end up in a different spot each time you turned the steering wheel back to center. Using a standard steering box instead of an orbital valve will cause you to hit mechanical stops and probably do so before your tires pointed where you wanted them to. I'll go ahead and tell you it won't work, you could hook it up and make it move the tires, but it won't always allow you to turn as far as it should nor consistently give you steering in both directions. An orbital valve has no stops so if you need to turn the steering wheel 10 times (to compensate for any bleed/fluid bypass) to get the knuckles to hit the stops you can.

Gotchaaa. That makes quite a bit of sense
