I cant seem to find a reasonable 85-91 vr (and k before 87) series hydro bellhousing so I can do the hydro swap into my 81 k5.....
I did find a 89 k series gen three bellhousing behind an sm465... the slave cylinder is on the pass side instead of the drivers...other than that it looks the same... anyone know of any reason why I couldnt use this? I can get the correct pedals etc and I was thinking I could just run a longer line fron the master cylinder...
anyone done this or have knowledge if this is feasible...
FYI apparently GRUMAN vans with smallblocks also have the correct hydro setup for gen 2 trucks... like theres any of those around in the junkyards....

thanks

The hydro housings that were originally from our trucks had the slave on the drivers side. I have an 85 bellhousing on my 87 and it is on the drivers...I also used to have an 91 V-body bellhousing with the slave on the drivers...

The C/K body style truck have the slave on the passengers side for, as mentioned earlier, driveline clearance. With 4+" of lift you should be fine either way. The slave cylinders and shift fork and are different though *I THINK* I have a bellhousing from a 1992 with a NV4500 in the garage and it has a pass. slave...

Maby an alternate route for you to take.
www.AdvanceAdapters.com makes a bracket that uses the bell bolts to mount. I just recived mine and it is a nice fit. They use a Toyota LCruzer Slave cylinder. I am in the process of setting mine up. The Master is still GM and I will be atapting the Master to my existing clutch pedel too.
Here is another alternative

For me I am installing a FI454 so I wanted to keep my cast bell for strenght so I went the AA route so I can customize to my liking/needs.
Anyway good luck... /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
