Hi, my build is getting close to brakes. I have a 14ff with disc conversion and d60 with psc ram assist, And a 5.3 swap. My frame is a 1977 and the body is a 74. I need help on what hydroboost and master cylinder will work. All parts will bought online or parts store. I'm getting paralysis of analysis reading everything about the swap lol. Seems everybody goes to the junkyard, but that's not a option.
I read that I need to swap my 5.3 pump to a 6.0liter pump, is that true? Can someone point me in the right direction on what to buy? Thank you.

I used a Hydro boost unit and pedal from a 82 Diesel K5 and a m/c from a 78 C30 with JB8 brake option and hydroboost (all 1 tons have hydro) That gave me the biggest bore m/c for my 4 wheel disc setup. I had to make a custom length pedal pushrod for my setup and I used a manual dial type prop valve in line to the rear to dial in the perfect touch on braking. I also used fluid lines from a 99 Silverado 2500 w/ 6.0. I used a run of the mill PS pump from Oreillys, but your's would probably be different from a LS engine. check on line to see if part #'s interchange between a 5.3 and 6.0

What year is your rig? Will the 82 fit a 74 firewall?

Yes, I used an 82 unit on my 77 body. I took everything I could from the 82 diesel body, then used the 78 C30 w/ JB8 option m/c because it had the biggest bore of stock m/c's I could find.

here are some pics of the pushrod spacer I needed to make to get the stroke right...

You need the PS pump from a 2500 with a 6.0 (some 1500s came with a 6.0) because these had hydroboost and the pump has the extra return line in it. I have a 6.0 with this pump but I’m not running hydroboost (yet), so I have that line capped off.

I would assume that they’re interchangeable between the 5.3 and 6.0 but I’m not 100%

Edit: just saw that you have the PSC. Doesn’t it have its own PS pump?

Status update. Did some research into My psc kit that has been in the box forever, it has the hydroboost return port in the reservoir, so no need for the 6.0 pump. Ordering the hydroboost, master cylinder and lines for a 1984 k30. Found a pedal on ebay.

Got a better price from the zone over Amazon for the same exact parts pictured. I'll update this thread when I install it and let you know how it goes. Super appreciate everybody's input:)

did you check rockauto ? and use the discount code in our vendor section ?

a ya way cheeper on the second hose and few cheeper on 1st hose . and master way cheeper .

Thanks for letting me know about the code. Already ordered the parts and I'll have them tomorrow so I'll just roll with it.
Just a heads up, might be a couple weeks till i find out if it all works. Fabricating the dash right now.

Every 5.3 I have ever worked on or seen. Has had a hydro boost pump to include mine. It’s just means you have an extra return port. If you don’t have this port you can just T your return lines together. Plenty of factory applications T the return line

My truck is an 80 so metric fitttings. I used an 85 booster and pedals because cheap used parts. 80 master cylinder and steering box with my 2006 5.3 pump. I’m also useing a stock 2006 Yukon hose from the pump to booster and stock 80 hoses from the booster to box

Steering systems turned metric in 80. So you either need all 79 and older or 80 and newer if you want the hoses to hook up. If you mix and match you will need adapters or custom hoses
