New member with question. Also posted on FSC.com. Have a '92 sub 2500 4X4 that is whining with turning and the brake pedal has become soft. Midas says it's a bad hydro boost. Thinking about DIY. Anyone had troubles replacing their hydro-boost? Any suggestions? Do I need to replace all the hoses? Should I do the PS pump while I'm at it? Thanks in advance.

THose units don't *usally* go bad. If it's whining while turning, tha'ts power steering. Is it full? I'd replace that first, and if your problem persists, then replace the hydroboost unit. I think in the GM Service manual there's a pressure check on those units to tell if they are good or not. If you have a GM service manual, look up the troubleshooting for that. You can by the service manuls on ebay for like 20 ro 30 bucks usally.
