I have a friend who purchased one ton crew cab with hydroboost brakes. I think it's an '84. He is just using it for parts. If I want to put the hydro boost system into my '78 3/4 ton, which parts do I need? Do I need the steering box and pump? How about master cylinders? I have read that I need the brake pedal too. Any input would be cool. Thanks.

You need:

the pump

the lines, 3 of them

the master cylinder

the booster

the proprotioning valve

the pedal assembly

Thats how I would do it. I'd copy the factory in every way when it comes to brakes :)

People do swaps without all these things and others have figuired out how to use what they have. Example - use a regular ps pump and tee in the third line. Even though it works, the psi wrong for that pump.

Brake pedal is suppose to be different too. You can use the old one but I think the MS will bottom out so you better get the one ton assembly to have correct braking action. Or modify the current one...

hydroboost proprotioning valve

do you need the proprotioning valve from a hb truck when swapping to hydroboost?
