Anyone ever rebuilt their hydro booster.?
Mine appears to be leaking on the firewall side from somewhere.

I've seen rebuild kits for them, but I can't seem to find any definite part numbers that are for a square body.
The search is eluding me so I figured I'd ask here.
Rebuilt one is like $200 :doah:

Just getting the nut off requires a special socket. I cannot imagine the rebuild is very hard though once you get it apart.

There is a reman for $120 on rockauto.com

Where would that nut be? Looks like it just unbolts and splits in the middle.

I'd probably spend the extra $20 and get that cardone one from summit, just because I've dealt with their core return a few times and know it.

It's definitely leaking where it bolts together. Just got the mirror out and looked

The nut holds the firewall plate to the hydroboost. The reman units do not include the plate or nut.

Ah. Ok. I see the need for the depth there.
The newer units look the same, but say they don't fit the vehicle.
But the rebuild kits for them are easy to find.
I'd rather fix a seal than fork with changing it.

Rtv is looking like a serious option at this time. But the leak is slow so I'm not real worried yet lol.

That nut can be sombish even with the correct socket.
I have never rebuilt 1, I don't think it would that difficult.

By the looks of it that wouldn't need to come off to rebuild it.
I can find the kit for the 2000's one.
And that looks pretty much the same. I'm tempted to by the kit and see :dunno:

Worth a try at least.

All I'm worried about at this point is this gasket lol. Maybe it would still be close.

That peanut shaped one is the gasket for where the case splits. And it's leaking right out of the bottom of that split.

Not bad, but it's leaking. Thought I had all the leaks on this fixed lol.

Looks like these are the two gm part numbers that work. Found it on a couple different sites.

Whole kit, 2771004. $30 on Amazon

Rubber seals only, 2771004x. $21 on Amazon
