Hydro steer tierod clamp question

Been searching thru MANY hydro steering threads. Saw that most people went thry McMaster Carr for their clamp. They offer 2 styles of 1 1/2" clamps, a 1 piece and a 2 piece. The 1 piece is $52 and the 2 piece is $69. Is there any obvious clamping difference, 1 better than the other??
I know the 1 piece would be a lot harder to steal but is the 2 piece worth an extra $17??

can't ya just buy 2 tabs for like $1 and a six pack of beer for a friend that can weld and call it good? $69? meh.

I made my tabs with 1" plate I got from the scrap yard for free.

Honestly, I bought a one piece 1 1/2" clamp from mcmaster carr... Put it on my rockrod and welded the tabs to it... I mounted the ram off the diff cover.. eventually i broke the ram and realized that hi steer is where its at.
I just welded the two tabs to the hi steer tierod itself... So I have a bent up D60 rockrod and the 1.5" clamp sitting in my backyard... And a badass histeer setup with the ram way up and out of the way.

shoot me a pm if you wanna take the rockrod/clamp off my hands for me.

I thought about just welding the tabs on, still a possibility. It's just once they are on then you have to cut them off and reweld them if you ever need to move/adjust them. Still thinking about this one

yah i hear ya on that, but it seems like if you set your toe and then weld the tabs to the tierod you should be pretty good...
when you have to make an adjustment later, if you pop one side of the tierod out and spin a TRE one revolution, its half as much as if you loosened up the tierod and spun that around one revolution... and wont make a HUGE difference maybe 1/8" difference in the toe?.

Guess that's a good thing though. I haven't met one yet that I didn't get along with
