I’m swapping in an sm465 in my k5 i have all the linkage for the clutch. Before buying I looked for a hydraulic setup but couldn’t find one so I pulled the trigger on mine. Anyway I have the chance to buy a hydro bellhousing and slave/master for $150. Question is is the hydraulic clutch that much better and will I need anything else, does the hole in the clutch pedal line up the same for the master cylinder or will I need a new clutch pedal? Thanks

The hydraulic pedal assembly is different. The pin on the pedal is located different and there are 2 strut rods that go from the pedal bracket to / through the firewall providing the studs that the master cylinder mounts to.

Plenty of people have made do with mechanical pedals but it’ll take some extra work.

As far as one style over the other, I’ve had both and naturally the hydraulic style has a softer pedal feel. The main reason hydraulic is more desirable is that the mechanical linkage could pull apart due to body flex. I never had it happen but I’m not a big rock crawler either.

First of all, buy that as an investment and sell it for quite a bit more if you dont use it.
Secondly, hydraulic is a way easier swap imo.
Aside from the bell, and pedals, You should also get the reservoir and bracket. The master, line, and slave are available new.
