any of you guys/ gals running hydroboost brake conversion?
if so were did you get the kit at?

I just went to U Pull it yard and pulled my Hydroboost off a late 80's diesel truck. Make sure you grab the pedal though, very important.

Its the easiest and best swap ever. Pulled the hydrobooster w/ master cylinder off a diesel truck for 26 bucks at the pick-a-part. Stopped by autozone on the way home and got both new pressure hoses for another 30 bucks, about 4 feet of hose for the return lines, a brass barbed "T", a magnetic power steering filter and some hose clamps. The T is only needed if your power steering pump only has one return line.

The hydrobooster bolted right up. I think I had to hammer off 2 studs from the hydroboost mounting plate because the firewall already had studs. Didnt even have to change the pedal for mine, the shaft was the correct diameter for the rod.

It was a total of 80 bucks because I wanted all new hoses and added a filter as well. Took less than an hour to do, really easy and it has a nice solid linear brake pedal feel that works as fast as you can press it. I can lock up all four 37" tires at any time if I wanted to.

I have a spare I really should put into my truck...

i di even googled it tons of right ups but i dont want junkyard brakes.

Its not usually likely prone to breaking. There are only like 3 or 4 seals and a ram. If they had a parts kit you can just rebuild it.

if the unit is not leaking its 99% prob good.

i am still using my hydro boost on my 79k30 truck and its on its second body .

and if you wana pay $$$$ for a reboxed and painted unit from some guys home garage then thats good. but there is little mods to do to the units. its all basicly in the pump if needed for huge tires and hydro assist steering.

so a bolt on kit from a junk truck will be fast n cheep.

The parts i used came off a 1986 C-20 w/diesel, here are the links to the parts if you want to buy them new/reman from autozone. They have life time warranties too.

Hydroboost: $99 w/core, $168 without
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/pa...?counter=0&itemIdentifier=733576_0_4837_17625

Master cylinder: $18 w/core, $30 without
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/pa...kn47?counter=3&itemIdentifier=719492_0_0_3331

Hose, pump to hydroboost: $23
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/pa...z?counter=0&itemIdentifier=185803_21789_4837_

Hose, hydroboost to power steering gear: $14

Then for the return lines you just need about 4 feet of power steering hose, a brass or aluminum "T" connector and some hose clamps and preferably an inline filter to keep it all happy for many years.

It would still be cheaper for you to go to a junkyard and pull the hydroboost and master cylinder and use them as a core.

I'm trying to wrap up the tranny/hydro swap in my 87 burb. Does anyone have a pic for the clutch slave location they could post up? I have searched to no avail and didn't want to start a new thread. Seems I read the firewall was stamped somewhere but I'm not seeing it.Thanks for the help...

factory hydro clutch resivor bolts to 2 of the 3 wiper motor to firewall bolts.

simply pull out the 2 bolts add clutch fluid master with the little bracket and bolt back down.

and firewall has 2 dimples easy to see on inside as outside gets covered with black undercoat from factory. this is for the master cyl for the hydro clutch.

also the slave is bolted to the tranny.

i think you got the 2 names mixed up.

if you got the hydro pedal assembly then it can be installed minus the 2 studs on the support rods to help lineup the 2 holes to drill in the firewall to locate the big hole to drill.

Sorry I actually meant the clutch "master" cylinder. Need to cut hole in firewall, want to get it right without guessing.

Ha, I was fat fingering my phone when you responded. I'll go look for the dimples, my pedals are already in though. A pic would still be great.
