is there supposed to be a rubber boot between the hydroboost bracket and firewall? that goes over the actuator rod? seems like there should be.. the setup i bought didn't have one...

the old vac booster setup has the plastic tube that fits in that hole...

if i'm not mistaken, i think i see one on this google image i found...

any help is appreciated... tried finding an exploded view somewhere with no luck...

None that I ever bought had them , these were from CCP,Napa,Gm and all my step vans which are open ( engine bay ) they as well don't have them.

I replaced that whole system on my 30 a few years ago and don't recall any rubber membranes anywhere on or between them at the firewall.

i suppose it would be called that.... here's a pic of where i think there should be one as it comes thru the firewall...

I have removed 4 units from mostly original trucks and none had a rubber gasket/boot. 1984-86

The one I removed from a 6.2 K5 didn't have one either.

thanks man... i had totally forgotten about vanco... i actually have that link somewhere..

originally when i bought this setup a couple yrs ago i figured i might send it out to them for the mods they do to em... now of course thats been backburner'd and i just wanna get the truck on the road..

i'll give em a call this week.....

I took mine out of an 86

Edit: maybe that was my stock 1970 boot? Can't remember now

update on the rubber boot...... talked to Vanco today.. cool guy, very helpful... found out a bunch of stuff... the boot was added later in case the seal goes to prevent fluid from getting on the firewall... which he chuckled at, because the boots have a drainhole in em anyway, so it fills up, then, leaks all over the firewall.. :doah: :haha: not needed at all...

he said some GM's did have a paper gasket there on some, for vibes... which i may do, but again, not needed...

eventually i'll send the/a unit out to him to get ported.. he says if your running assist with the hydroboost it is HIGHLEY recommended.... he said the hydroboost really bottlenecks the system when ya throw assist into the system... so I'm thinking I'll do all that at one time...
