The time has come to replace the master cylinder on my 84 K5. Since this is a spare truck, I thought it would also be a good time to install hydroboost. I have a rebuilt pump ready to go and a donor 1 ton with the booster, lines and pedal.

My question concerns the booster--is there a difference between the unit used on an 84 1-ton and an 84 K? Also, is there a difference between the m/c used on a gas K5 and one used on a diesel K5?

Thanks,

Jeff

Call napa they seem to act like they know everything when I'm there.

the master is diff from vacuum to hydro.

otherwise just make sure the lines have the right ends for the hydro unit you are using.
old style would be flare
new style would be o-ring

i would look on rockauto and see if the master cylinder bore size for a hydro k5 is the same as a 3/4 ton and a 1 ton.

if they are different you can order the one for whatever axles you have under youre k5

brake pedel arm might have the pin in the wrong position to hook up the rod. but could swap pedel if need be.

other wise basic swap over with few points others have said.

Thanks to all of you for the help and suggestions.

SweetK30--thanks for the reminder about the pedal. I have one still in the 1-ton donor if I need it.
