So pulled the hydroboost unit from a 93 K2500 TD, and we're looking to swap it into my buddy's 89 1500 Burb in place of the vac unit. Couldn't pull the brake pedal out of the K2500, there's no real bracket for it just pinned across the stamped steel over the column. So to swap it, will the plunger linkage be the right length, or are we going to need to do some modification to it?

I'm thinking worst case we can just mod the pedal he's got in there now to move the position of the linkage pin, just wondering if anyone's done it already.

The stamped steel over the column is the pedal bracket. Column removal (or drastically dropping it out of the way) is a prerequisite for removing the pedal bracketry.

You may be able to extract the pedal without moving the bracket. I have one rig that's missing its steering column, and it looks quite manageable. But with the column in place it's a tight fit. :dunno:

Moving the linkage pin on the pedal to the hydroboost location has been done. My pedal had both holes drilled, making it even easier. But I had both pedals, so I opted to simply switch pedals and not bother moving the pin.

An 89 and a 93 are two totally different chassis. Even if you did grab the brake pedal/bracket from the donor, you'd have to modify it to get it in there.

The pedal ratio is different between vacuum and hydroboost. This thread ( http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=306221 ) has some good pictures and info. How that relates to the GMT400 trucks...I'm not sure, but it's a place to start.

For the amount of additional work required, it's just easier to pull the steering column....and the drivers seat. I can't imagine trying to wrestle that bracket out from above the column with all that stuff still in the way.

Pulling the pedal is no longer an option. I'm guessing that truck is a pancake by now hehe. I'll have to get in hb in place and move the pin as necessary. Luckily it's not my truck so buddy can wait in line behind my other projects. Thanks fir the info I'll dive into it tonight.
