How important is it to have the star washer and spring between the mastercylinder and the booster.Its a star washer,spring,then plastic washer.The only reason for these i believe is to keep the inner push rod in center.Is there any play between the m/c and the booster when bolted together properly to allow the pushrod to fall out of place if these parts aren't in there with the pushrod?

it's friday night man, everyone is outside. :P except for me.

if it's in there, I'm guessing it's in there for a good reason. I don't know for sure, but on the brake system I'd play "better safe than sorry". why do you want to leave it out?

No.I found a booster and m/c in a deep woods cemetary on a C20.Just booster and m/c.DAMN pedal assem. and pedal/booster rod gone.Can't get a break!Got it back home and broke the two appart.Found the parts inside very eaten up with rust.Spring broken in about five pieces,star washer that goes at the m/c end totally gone.The only piece that survived was the plastic washer at the booster end.That's what prompted my questions. Even the rod eaten and pitted with rust but atleast I can wire it or even measure it and make one.Maybe what i'll have to do with the pedal/booster rod

Still no bites even a 25 yr service manager at the chevy dealership didn't have an answer.

That spring and washer needs to be there. Without it the pushrod wont stay centered. If the pushrod falls to the bottom of the mc bore it will wear a groove and the mc will leak
