That last truck is a Centurian. Check the frame and rockers for rust where the welded them back together. Nice truck, what's the actual price?

That's the only price shown. I believe that's actually the price. Not one I'm interested in though lol. I want 3/4 ton minimum. The maroon one is the one I sold. Sold it locally, found it in middle Illinois CL a few months later, and now find it again in mid Iowa a few years later lol... It gets sold ALOT

Read the 5 year plan in the first post :) and my new one isn't really a crew cab lol. Like a double maybe. And half ton. It's reliable transportation until the rest falls together as planned :waytogo:.

I didn't have time to have an old one down for rebuild when I needed the truck. Had to get out of the denali quick. So that's how the plan started. I'd rather have a rebuilt old one to maintain than a new one any day.

I read it and I'm still confused on what your 5 year plan is? Taking 5 years to build a truck?

I just have to sell my burb. And have a ccsb older truck paid for and drive train rebuilt to stock or slightly better by that time.

So I can sell my new truck and use the money for a house. Then the old truck becomes my permanent DD, and mild project combined.

Plus I get a house with a shop (deal breaker) and will have a place to do future mods/maintenance.

Really the point of the thread was for other people to fantasy build a CCSB as if they were going build it for them selves as a DD with decent basic trail capability. Then I figured I'd get different veiw points and ideas out of it and everyone gets to bench build a toy lol.

My ultimate truck, that I hope to lay the ground work for out of this. Would be,
A squarebody 91 or older, CCSB converted
454 vortec full roller motor, fiTech or similar FI unit on a dual plane intake. RV or 1 step bigger cam to keep the low end torque as much as possible. And a good ignition system
Mildly worked over 4l80e, 241.
Pretty much set up like that maroon one looks wise, but with cut out fender flares, 4" of lift and 37"s (it has 6" and 35"s)
3 or 4 link front and rear with coil overs set up for nice street ride mainly, with better than leaf flex as secondary.
That shouldn't be hard to get really lol.
4.56 gears, true Trac front and rear.

Interior cage built as tight to the outside as I can get. Rocksliders and custom bumpers.

4 bucket seats inside with front to rear center console.

Reason I brought up the body swap idea was because the newer truck would already have the drivetrain I want and I could do the front links when I do the furd axle SAS. But it sounds like a body swaps harder so......

Just keep the factory multiport injection.

But i like the plan. I got a crew cab out here. Just take a roadtrip. Lol

I was thinking the fiTech just because of future power increases but yeah the factory one should be fine for the power level I'm looking at

I have one that will go in something and the factory fuel injection is good to go for alot of power

the Vortec 454 I had was 100% stock and wasn't lacking in power. I towed my 90 RCSB on a tow dolly, set of 1 tons in the bed, 2 454s, welder, oxy tanks and don't remember what else in the back, and set the cruise to 70 and never dropped below, and don't think it even kicked out of OD. As much love there is for the squares, Id think you would be better starting with the newer CCSB and building it from there. Shouldn't terribly hard to find one with the 7.4, maybe get lucky and find one with a blown motor n swap in a 7.4 or 8.1. Since I tried to sell my 8.1 with 0 success, it's going in the crew with the 4500, 79 HP60 w/PL, van 14ff, 4.56s and fat 35s, just need the green unobtainium to finish...

A body swap is of no more skill then a sas
It's just a different type of thing.
If you can sas, you could pull a body swap.
If your going that far why wouldn't you look for a 8.1 Allison truck to body swap?
Then the drivetrain is done. In stock form.
And you can just swap the body.
For a mild overlanding truck, trail truck... The front ifs would be fine. Don't spend time and money sasing it, spend time and money doing the body swap and carefully picking out what upgrades to do.
Save all the money that's not needed for sas and coilovers. For your goals that shit is pointless.

Now if your just building because you want it... Then eat your heart out.

I've found a couple 8.1 trucks but most seem to be LB. The 8.1 is awesome, and doesn't need much really. But it seems like there's not a lot that can be done with them. I'd have to read the thread some more on them.

The Allison goes both ways. Heard lots of BAD, and some good. In fact quite a big percentage of the 8.1 trucks I found were cheaper because the Allison was messed up. Never heard much bad about the 4l80e :dunno:

b454rat, that sounds like it'll be a fun cc when it's done:waytogo:

So buy one with an 8.1 and a 4l80. That will be easier to find anyway.
A cam, tune, and headers will put you past 400hp in a 8.1 all day.
Not sure why you would need more then 400 for an overlanding rig.
