I aint no virgin anymore (front R&P swap completed) PICS>>

I had the opposite problem on the 87 suburban I bought last fall. The rear end made noise coasting down hill so I checked it out. The yoke hade visible play on the splines. I asked the local dealer about tightening the nut, since it is a crush sleave design. He said that there was no way I would crush the sleave further with a regular 2' breaker bar so I could just tighten it as tight as I could and it should be fine. I snuged it up, the noise went away, and everything is rosey so far. I think the long barin the picture is for crushing the crush sleave.

IR 244
600ft lbs remove torque double hammer 1/2 impact
its scary on normal stuff if you run full air pressure

YaaaHooo, I kicked that nut's A$$ last night!!!

Man that sucker was freakin on there. I did the pipe wrench/duct tape leaning on the spring pack trick to hold the pinion. I first had the wrench just hit the ground but it made the rig shift on the jack stands..scary stuff so put in on the springs. I got it to finaly turn with my 2' braker and the floor jack handle. after I turned it 3-4 times whiped out the impact again and ratat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat...slowly it started to move then finaly the sucker spun off

. the threads had somekinda white locktight/cement on them and a couple threads were busted off in hte center so it looks like I had to bust the threads to get the nut to start turning.

LOL! Is it possible to have a "big enough" compressor? I've got a 5 HP, twin cylinder job, but it still can't keep up with some of my tools since I moved to Colorado. The ambient air pressure here is lower so it doesn't fill the cylinders nearly as well (the same phenomenon that makes engines lose 25% of their power here). I keep hoping that Home Depot will have a clearance sale on their monster Ingersol-Rand 6HP, two-stage unit with the 80 gallon tank!

It's an awesome compressor, but it's also $999!!!

Yeah Harry, my wife came over and drug me away from the tool section while I was having fantasies looking at that very same compressor.

Will work for beer, parts and tools.
