There is a monster truck show on 11/4/10 here in Bakersfield. I am going to be in the mud bogg and depending what the tuff truck track looks like, might enter that also! I will be running 42" TSLs, 5.13s with a Detroit in the rear. Hope its DEEP mud!!

sweet man, pretty sure you need a winch though, and might wanna sipe them swamps:popcorn:

edit, and maybe get rid of push pull steerin ya got, sick truck though, i like!!!
too bad you guys gotta run front lisc plates out there, fugly. oh well

Better get cutting on those tires! Deep enough mud will swallow anything up, and you get those 42s full of mud and they will suck up a lot of power to keep 'em spinning whichs cleans the tread out so it can keep chuckin' the muck.

Maybe you should add a little N20 for the mud passes...:sign29:

Crossover steering will be done by next week!!! Need to buy a siping tool.

Instructions....

1. have fun
2. punch it
3. hold the hammer down
4. f#<{ing floor it
5. keep the pedal to the metal
6. if you lift you lose
7. Watch for them to tell you to stop
8. stop if you are told by personnel or you reach the end
9. continue to have fun

On a more serious note there are a few mud boggers on here who can probably give you some real tips. (YZEATER is one) I've only went bogging for fun, never in a race.

Thanks! Sounds like a great time. I am sure the mud wont be that deep though. I hope so, wish it would be like TTC 2010!!! It will probably be two to three feet deep. If thats the case, no worries.

I forgot if I did 4 Low or HI last time. Im thinkin 4HI though!

hope you have a roll cage if your doing mud drags, iv seen some trucks about that size get pretty squirrly in the mud.

rememeber saftey first

if it's deep, you'll never do anything in hi-range unless you have a built engine and even then it will strugle. what do you have for an engine?

350 TBI, with 600 miles on since it was rebuilt. Stock with shorty headers. So, about 165hp, maybe. I don't know what it is. The builder installed flat top pistons and said it is a gain of 10%. But I have no idea really.

Siping doesn't do anything for mud, any kind of mud.
Siping only helps on ice and wet roads.
The only thing that helps in mud is big open lugs which he has, and high wheel speed which he can't have because of the weak engine, low range will keep him spinning but will not give enough speed to self clean.
Hi will get him bogged down and stuck.

If its a drag, like they just dug down 8" with a plow smoothed it out and put some water on it then maybe hi, hopefully its not like that.

Just remember if its even halfway deep and you are in first ( in lo) and you think you can shift to second, YOU CAN'T don't even try. Pin the throttle and rev it out, have fun man.

Oh yah and burbs and tough trucks don't get along too well................I am just sayin

I agree with you on the large lugs, I never said anything about siping. His 42s are near bald, he needs to cut the lugs out deeper again so he has something to chuck the mud. And that's why I mentioned the N20, he needs power for more wheel speed. You should probably read the posts before you correct them, because you said the same thing I was trying to say.

Don't you think I could get more wheel spin in 4HI than 4LOW? In 4LOW, with the 5.13s, I can't get over 6-7mph in 1st gear. I think I'm going to have to use 4HI and not let it get out of 2nd gear. I am going to try finding a siping tool to get some more depth out of the lugs, don't know if I can find the time to do it though. It will take forever.

When those tires fill up with mud and get into the sticky goo, it will suck up the horsepower bigtime. Definitely 4LO. At 5500 RPM in 4LO 1st gear (700R4?) you will be 16 MPH. 2nd gear is 31 MPH. 1st gear in 4HI is 43 MPH. You won't be able to spin them that fast. Stick with 4LOW. You may even bog down in 2nd gear in 4LO, it depends on how strong your engine is. Back when my engine was a bone stock 350, I would bog down if I tried to shift to 2nd gear in mud, in low range, with 4.10s and 36s. I did only have a 2.0:1 low range though, but still, you can always upshift in low range, in high range, it will just bog down in 1st gear and you can't downshift.

I would say even if it is just a shallow mud race track, use low range. It will probably only be 300 ft and you won't run out of gears in low range in 300 ft unless you have some serious power. You can go over 50 MPH in low range in 3rd gear if you rev it up a little.

Huh? LO5s were rated like 240hp and 300ftlbs stock. With flattops, and a good exhaust your should be somewhere around 275hp and 330ftlbs.
