I am the biggest wheel noob that exists.

Random highjack, but I used to go that way when I was at school at Towson...

Continued hijack :doah:, my mom just retired from Towson last year, she worked in the Health center then for the last few years she worked in the mathematics dept office, you may have met her :D

Random continued hijack off. ..........

Wrong back spacing. Those are the IFS offset wheels. They may bolt on but will tuck your tires way inside the fenders and possibly interfere with steering components or put the tires into the springs during turns.

At that price you're close enough to just ordering a brand new set of steel wheels from summit.

I really like the Unique Series 83 Cragars that I see at Summit. They're cheap, so I don't know if people have a hard time with Cragars these days; I also don't know what sort of backspacing or any of that I should get with these.

I basically like the military look about how basic they are, and teh much smaller and symmetrical holes, but am I missing some sort of basic trail understanding that this type of rim is bad, or collects mud more, or....whatever?

At Summit, here's the link for all the 83's they have:

Lastly...Cragar's own website doesn't show these. Is that also bad news?

$%^&*(mit! The 83's are supposedly FWD only despite coming up at Summit n their "wheel finder".

I found them at Unique Wheel's site (owned by Cragar?) and they have a weight rating of only 1200 per wheel, which is also no good.

Hulk smash!!!

They shouldn't be hard to find. I have given a few sets away.

I would like to get 33's.

As for wheel size, from this thread it was suggested to go 16 or 17 inch wheels.

I've checked the CL's within an hour or so and even a local halfway decent one called Pennswoods. Nada so far.

The soich, as they say, continues

Like Martin said, you should be able to find a set of Rally wheels on Craigslist for cheap and throw some 33's on them. They're 15x8.

33s will still be common for 15" wheels for quite a while.

35s for 15" wheels are getting tougher to find as well as larger sizes. That is why people say to go with a larger wheel.

black, steel, cheap, 15x8 with 3.75" back space

this should fit for what you want

Holy jesus, I love these wheels:

http://buffalo.craigslist.org/pts/3044077052.html

OK, I see the year involved. Would they fit an '87 K? I can't tell backspace, obviously, but are all newer wheels not a good fit?

PS: It looks like there are two sets of ralleyes around me now...but jeebus I like these.

PPS: the ralleyes look to both be 15 inchers despite having 31's on them now. Are they going to fit OK? I thought there were brake clearance issues with those?

All of the newer IFS truck wheels have the wrong offset. All of them.

The rally wheels came stock on these trucks, 15" was the norm. No brake clearance issues when used on stock 1/2 ton 6 lug axles, which I am assuming you have because you keep looking for 6 lug wheels. 31s and 33s will be good to go on a set of 15" wheels.

To get the look you want you could buy a set of rallys and paint them black and use stock center caps with or without trim rings. Or buy the wheels I linked to earlier. Then get a set of "dual thread" lug nuts from ebay that will work with the center caps of the wheels like you just posted. The caps are held on with threaded lug nut caps. But you will have to drill a hole in 2 of the caps for the front hubs to stick out of.

I know this is 8 lug but same principal applies. These are center caps that I had to drill out 2 of them for the front hubs. And they are held on with the black plastic lug nut caps.

The older rallys were original equipment. Most of these trucks came with them from the factory. Like the set at the top of this page, 2 of the caps have the hub hole for the front hubs. And they bolt to the wheels so nothing else is needed to purchase.

Hijacking with another noob question

I am looking at making the transition over to Humvee tires (Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs) and will need a 16.5 rim to mount them on. Enter my ignorance: When looking at different styles of rims, I found some white ones from US Wheels that will look good with my Red/White 88 K5. The only question I have is regarding backspace and the rim interfering with the drag link. The Rims measure: 16.5 x 9.75 with a 4.75 backspace. I havent a clue about backspacing or how to calculate what I need to keep my wheels from hitting the drag link. Any advice out there is much appreciated!
