I am planning on putting up an I beam building for a garage. I was thinking of ordering it a little taller(15ft sidewalls) and put in a floor 10ft off the slab, for storage. If the floor was suspended from the roof it would still leave the whole garage area open. Does this sound do-able to anyone?

You'd better tell the manufacturer of the building what you intend to do so he can supply you with beefed up roof trusses. If it's not a pre-fab building, get with an engineer to design your roof to support the hanging load.

absolutely doable... my buddy and I have the same shops,,, he has an entire second floor whereas mine is wide open

you can do it without permits if you want to take the liability on at time of sale of the property and disclose... but make sure the building IS engineered for what you want

or even the better way is have the whole thing engineered with the drawings and specs and pay the money and taxes on it forever,,, but be legal
