I bought a Corvette.

Bought a 1979 Corvette L82 automatic.

It's the crappy, nondesirable year, and it's not even the undesirable year I want. My favorites are 1975-1977, but the price was right on this one.

Goal is to get it running and driving, and then just see from there.

I dont think any Corvette is "undesireable"...

Sure, maybe some years aren't as great as others--but I wouldn't mind having one of ANY vintage...(as long as I wasn't who had to fix it!)..

A guy I worked with had a "77 Vette--I dont think he spent one weekend alone--always had some hottie with him..of course,he lived on a 33' boat and was not exactly poor either..

They started to get a bit better in 78...75-77 were the worst years to get...anemic performance and like most other GM products of the era plagued with little problems all the time. Not that 78 was much better but at least it was on the upswing again. Is that a L-82 emblem on that hood? It "should" have 4 bolt mains, but seems like that is always a hit or miss thing with GM. The L-82 is a 220hp 78-79
strip it down and make a autocrosser out of it!
