well, i can get a 454TBI out of a suburban that my buddy is parting out...it has 123k miles on it, and is in a 2wd truck....starts and runs great, great oil pressure too. im wondering if it's someting i should look into. i have a tired old 350 in my truck right now(TBI) with a 700R4. im not sure the condition of my trans.

i have a few questions about this:

what trans should be in a 1991 2wd 3/4ton suburban???

would my 700r4 and np241 hold up to the BBC????

and would i need to get the ECM, wiring,etc... out of the suburban???

thanks in advance guys..

oh yeah, i'd be trading a 14bolt rear end with a detorit and 4.56's for it....

i think it's a pretty good deal if you ask me...

Trans should be a 4l80e. Id say you better trade him before he changes his mind. Just make sure you get the harness and comp for the motor and trans.

Your trans would bolt up, but its only a matter of time before it gives up, under the torque of the BB, if its still stock.

The trans in the burb will either be a TH400 or a 4L80E.

Depending on what your plans are for your rig will determine if your existing trans/t-case will hold up.

If the trans in the burb is a 4L80E and your buddy lets you grab it as well as the engine then you should definately grab the complete wiring harness and the ECM. If you only plan on taking the engine then you just need the chip from the ECM or you could grab the whole ECM to make it eaiser. The TPS and IAC sensors will have different shape plugs but you can get an adapter harness from Turbo City to cure that problem.

Don't forget that if you do grab the trans as well it will require work to bolt a t-case to it and a VERY HARD to find adapter and you would have to install a 32 spline input in your t-case assuming you would use your t-case and not find a correct t-case ready to bolt up.

Ditto, get it. With that mileage count on valve guides and rings at minimum though.

I would grab the motor and PCM - it is the 16147060 - and wiring harnes. You might be better off forgoing the trany and finding a used 4x4 4L80e instead of searching for the required adaptor etc.

Its worth it , you can either use it or turn a profit . Someone on a Chevelle or Camaro site will gladly buy it from you .

get it!!! swaping in the 454 into my jimmy was the best thing i did to it.now im looking for one for my suburban

I would have put it in your truck yesterday. My k30 454/465/205 truck gets 9-10 and my K10 355/700/208 gets 10-11. I love the k30.
