I.D this T/case

Its not out of a Chevy. Its a Ford. Its got the driver side front d-shaft drop.

And its not a 205. This t-case came out of the Highboy series trucks. Its a two speed case. Not a 220 or 221 but a Dana 20 or 21 I believe.

It has to be a 205 it says so on the tag:haha: :haha:

The last 3 digits in the second row of numbers.

Ira
The last numbers somehow got smashed it appears like.

Better contact the dumb**** and let him know its not a 205 before some dumb poor chap accidentally buys it thinking he got a 205 when he's just getting Vaseline.

I dont really know what the hell it is but it is a Dana that begins with 2??

Being a dumb redneck myself I can see how he thinks it is a 205 based on the tag alone.

Any savy guy would know it is not because it does not have the 3 bolt cover on the rear.

is that a divorced t-case?
Its out of an F250 between '66 to '77 of the Highboy series. They used a short d-shaft between the tranny and t-case.
I've only seen these cases up to '74 but not newer than those. I have seen 203's and 205's in '73 on up also.

They were stout, heep guys want those and D300'.s But If I recall not as strong as a 205. They were used in 1st gen K5's w/3-4spd.Up to 2nd gen in '73 it was still an option.

-edit-If no one's willing to argue with me I'm going to bed!

Plus, they are a 2 speed case. No low range.

Now that doesn't make any sense to me.

all "regular" transfercases are 2 speed cases. Hi and Low. Hi generally being 1:1 direct, low being whatever the given ratio is.

Possibly two postion? 2WD or 4WD...but no low range? Maybe?

You're thinking of the Dana 21.

What we are looking at here is a Dana 24, it was used in Fords before the 205. It has an even higher low range (1.86 or something similar) than 205's. I have heard that these are pretty stout cases, just older.

EDIT: if it were a single speed case, why would it have 2 shift rails?

Also, the guy who made the ad is high on something. Not from a Chevy since it's driver drop, and not worth anywhere near what he's asking.
