I got this 68 GMC in my folk's pasture that the body is heavy damage to every panel but the roof is good. I have this Idea to cut the roof off and make a half top out of it, not just weld it on but removable. Is there a reason that I have not heard about this before.

Never seen that done before...on the internet anyway...
I have seen folks cut a Balzer hard top in half and run a half top that way...never seen a truck cab roof used....you may be the first to try:bow:

Good Luck & post pics if you try it:D

If no one burst my bubble I am going for it. I know there could be some problems with the door windows but I got a fews ideas on that.

Good luck! Sounds like a good project. Can you take alot of pics if you decide to tackle it?

What are you going to do about the front lip attachment to the windshield frame?
Are you fabbing up an entire leading edge or taking the whole front/top of the frame with the metal top?
Maybe using the blazer sun visor mounts could work out too.

Sounds like an interesting project, post up your progress pics for us.
