OK. So now I am having some charging problems. Through all of the stuff I am going through, I was looking at wiring diagrams for my starter and my alternator. They both show wires going directly to the battery. Mine is not like that. The only thing coming off of my battery is the + and - cables.

Are the starter and alternator supposed to hook up directly to the battery, or do they achieve that connection elsewhere in the wiring? I know this is probably a very basic question, but that describes my knowledge of electrical, hell of working on vehicles period.

Thanks fellas.

my alt. hooks up at starter on b+ and the junction block on firewall, and theres a piece from starter b+ to the junction box,...kinda a 12v triangle, if you will :dunno: i think its factory, maybe mistaken, but looks like a factory wireing harness...i also have just the cables off the battery

I just found another post similar to mine. It shows the junction box you mention and mine has that as well. Everything was working since I had the truck so I was assuming it was hooked up somewhere, but you what happens when you assume. lol

Thanks for the response. :-)

yeah... i hit a bump too fast the other day in town (Friggin roads) and it knocked my battery hold down loose and battery went flying almost into fan... disconnected that hot wire from battery to the junction block on fender and killed it immediately. EVERYTHING shut off! haha cd player, lights, everything.
