  • Weld in a new tailpan and be done with it

I've got an 84 K5 w/ a 6.2 that I'v ebeen having some troubles with it. I might be parting it out in July. Body if vertally rust free as it was an AZ vehicle. It has some newer rebuilt stuff that I want, as well as I'll probably sell off the 6.2 Has new GP & supposedly rebuilt injectors. Also have like 16 extra GPs and 8 extra injectors. Anyway, if you migh be interested in a semi rollling chasis/body, let me know.
 
could you swap a truck cab on it and flatbed the rest? I don't see how you're going to get this thing rust free / structurally sound without either a lot more $$$$$ or major replacement. I dunno about out where you are, but here in the NW you can get a 5 speed Geo Metro for well under $1000. I'd be cheaper to buy a Metro to drive to work in and go truggy with that rust pile of a truck...

Interesting offer Mark. Especially since that Old Chinaman's Gulch trail actually caused his tailpan to buckle in the middle.

Heh, that cab looks familiar. Apparently you guys made it back just fine.

Also looks lighter than I remember :D

BTW, Scott, hang on to those straps until Holy Cross. I won't need them before then.

No problem. Glad to help. See, I damage your body then replace it cheaply :doah:

As for the VIN, I'd cut that section from your K5 and weld it into the same spot on the K30 cab. Not a real big issue. Toby (Moneypit) used several parts form different vehicles to make his rig. Since you are keeping the VIN to the newer vehcile, shouldn't be an issue. Normally they just don't want you to go the other way due to fees/emissions.
