So i'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do for tires. I am going to order some boggers if I can't find some like new used for cheap. (HA!) How much does the suggested rim width matter? If it says 10" wide rim what else can I run or am I stuck with 10"? I think I have 7" or 8" and I think I could run the 39.5x11x16 ok but don't know if I can fit 39.5".:o

You mean the 38.5x11 right? You should be fine with a 8" wide rim. You should even be fine with a 7" wide rim. The tire may crown a bit with the narrower rims but that probably won't make that much difference on a bogger

if they crown, lower the tire pressure until it flattens enuff to get rid of it, or would a crown due to skinny rims, make you air down way to low for street use?

Yeah I guess I did mean 38.5..oops. This thing isn't going to see much street use so I think I'll be alright.

Kind of what I meant, boggers suck on the street in a mild tire it would wear out the tire to fast. I know a bunch of guys running this size bogger on a 6" wide rims and they just wear out fast no matter what, when you run them on the street.

i would pick out the tire you want and find rims for it later if you have too.you can find rims for cheap, but if money is tight and you cant find any rims then ya, 11" wide boggers are fine with 7-8" wide rims.

The 38.5x11x16 call for a 16x8 rim but I was think of going with 38.5x15x16. Those call for a 16x10-12. I have 16x7 or 16x8 rims now. What do you guys think? Should I stick with 38.5x11 or go for the 38.5x15. The 15"s are 20 lbs. heavier each but have 3.5" wider tread.

I would get a 10" wide rim for the 38.5x15s. I have seen guys run 15"wide tires on 8" wide rims with no problems. Heck my next set of tires is going to be some 42s and I am going to run H1s. I just like the way a wide tire looks on a wider rim. That is all. The other thing is some tire stores won't mount tires on a rim that is narrower or wider than specified by the manufacturer

I ran my 42x14R15 IROKs on 15"x8" for while and now I run 15"x10"s (the tires recommend a 10-12" wide wheel)

I like the 10" wide wheels better but the 8"s were ok too.
