but I hate riceburner forums..

The muffler has just about fallen off my little commuter. Between that and the exhaust manifold that's sealed with exhaust sealer and the cat that rattles.. I'm going to replace the whole thing.

I scored a header on e-ghey a while back and am going to get a decent resonator.. no cat, that would defeat the purpose of cheap :wink1:

Anyways.. anyone know what muffler I can put on a little beater 4 cylinder that'll sound good? To be honest.. with the muffler off and just the cat it sounds good with a nice deep rumble, but it's just a little too loud for cruising in the city :wink1:

I was thinking a Magnaflow or something.. at least the ga16's in the Nissans seem to sound better than the raspy Honda's.

Cherry Bomb glass packs still cheap? Or a knockoff of the same? Ya know, the bright red tube things. May sound like half a V8.:D

all of the cheap mufflers make imports sound the same, loud and annoyingly raspy. All of the crap on ebay will sound just like that. If you are cool with that then get the cheapest, chromest thing you can find and have it burnt in there. If you want good import sound then you need to go to a speed shop and invest in legit products. Those things cost $$$$ as all of the good ones are built in japan and get sold here for big time money. Honda's are my other addiction.

If you want something in place of the resonator try a glasspack, not a cherry bomb glasspack. That'll make it pop more than a glasspack with the louvers. Also I have used a muffler called "The twister". It's a racing muffler with a center pipe and a spiral core around the center tube. Doesn't restrict flow but quietens it some some. Used it on some SRT4's. Magnaflow will be deeper but at higher RPM's has a higher note to it on 4cyl. Just depends on the setup.

a cheap good sound would be a flow master knock off "flow sound" $35 with free ship off ebay...when I had my civic (I know I know) I used the flow master muffler for a V6 comaro single in dual out sounded very nice deep tone received lots of complements & it was not loud at all compared to the grapefruit cannons you see everyone running.

hope this helps

I put a cheapo Dynomax on my Wife's S10. Sounds good, not too loud and cost around $25.00 at Advance Auto Parts.
