Can someone tell me the torque specs on my draglink on my D44 rod ends (castle nuts). The specs on the DL to the pitman arm and also to the steering arm. I'd think they are the same but what torque value. 65 FT/LBS?

"As tight as they will go" ft lbs

That is the torque I used on the steering arm stud nuts to attach to the knuckle. But "as tight as you can go" on the castle nuts for the TRE's on the Drag link seems toooo tight. Not sure why you would need to go too tight as they use the castle nuts and a cotter pin.

Any other thought or opinions guys or just bottom out the impact wrench, so to speak?

Well Hoby, you're not very strong, so just pull it as hard as you can. Then your wife can pull it to the next notch for you and put the cotter pin in.:haha:

Well, then, Chit. Looks like I am going to have to wait til Friday since Courtney is leaving for Okiehoma today to pick up our son. Alrighty then, I'll just pull it like a teenage boy and hope for the best. Dik.:D

The spec is listed in my chiltons manual, but the internet says 55 ft-lbs for a dana 44.

Edit: I've seen two specs, one says 55 and the other says 35. I'm thinking 35, but can check my manual later today if someone else hasnt by then.

Thanks Brian. I hope it is only 35 lbs as if it is more then I'll have to get my wife to pull the rest of the way.:doah: I suppose if I get it to somewhere around 45-55 ft/lbs and put the cotter pin in I should be golden.
