I hate to have to do it!!! Growl/harmonic vibration. Opinions Please

I'm going to bet it's something in your rear 10 bolt going out. If you take it to a differential shop and go for a test ride with them, they will be able to tell you for sure if it is or not, and it's free too. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

the difficulty comes in the description of the vibration i'm feeling...hence the growl with the vibe...i'm 99.9 percent certain this is not tire/wheel related...and the note on workin at firsestone was to avoid the training in how to identify tire/wheel woble, out of balance, out of round, things such as that...i'm not a first time player at trouble diagnosis or this post wouldn't be made....

i'll go ahead and continue to t/s...once i identify the cause, i'll post a follow up.

i've been throwing the idea around in my about tucking tail and doin' that!!! that'll probably be what i end up doin if i can't find this thing.

If this has been going on for weeks I would think a 10 bolt or t-case would have self distructed by now. Another easy thing to check is drive shaft ballancing. Check to see if the weights are still tacked to the drive shaft.

Oh and what kind of hubs do you have? are they auto hubs? If they are then you might have one thats not unlocking... it will be turning 1/2 your front drivetrain creating new noises/vibes in the front. Spin your axle ujoints by hand in the C and see if its hanging up out in the spindle/hub.

Might check tire/wheel balance. Could have thrown a weight when you drugg out of the hole. Wheels vibrate at 33 mph, 66 mph 99 mph etc, when they are out. It's harmonics (frequency of vibration).

Just stop driving over 60 and you'll forget all about it /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Because of the vibe AND growl, I would bet a bearing is going out in the t-case or the rear-end. Most likely the rear-end as you say the vibration goes away when you let off the gas a little. I'm not saying it 100% is, but it sounds like a pinion bearing in the rear-end is reaching the end of it's life expectancy. How many miles on the rear since the last rebuild?

The 10 bolt has never been rebuilt..it has a 157000 miles on it...I'll go ahead and start working on that...I was gettin' tired of replacing things that weren't fixing my problem!!! I was hoping someone could point me in a better direction then where i was goin!!!
