I have a 87 blazer, stock 350, 700R4 mated to an NP208. When I shift it into 4-wheel the shifter always slides back out of place, I cannot figure out why it does that. It's a part time hub and the hubs are locked when I engage 4 wheel drive. The transfer case was hardley ever enganged, b/c the truck has been on street all it's life. The gear ratios in the diff's are the same, and there is plently of oil in the case. Any help would be greatley appreciated. Also, it only slides out of position in 4 Hi, not any other gear.

this could help....
look at your transfercase mounts and your engine mounts.
that could be it.
my buddies 205 did that though, he needed a rebuild.
but the mounts are a start.

The Shifter on your truck bolts to the floor. Bad mounts is the mostliky cause as was pointed out. It lets the tranny mover more than it should and bind on the shifter for the case.

If you put a body lift on without some adjustment to the linkage that could also do it.
