is there such thing as a ball joint style dana 60 front for a chevy. i found a guy supposedly with one that is selling very reasonable. i thought all 60s had kingpin style ends. does he have a 44 that he thinks is a 60? i have never heard of a ball joint style front, but is it just my lack of knowledge?

thanks...

Tyler

p.s. can someone PM me the password for the PIG PEN so i can see what all the fuss is about?

I believe I have read here that some of the newer style D60s do indeed use ball joints.

But not in a Chevy.

Just look at how many bolts hold on the steering arm. 3 is a D44. 4 is a D60

all old dana 60 frts are king pin style . new ford and dodge styles are ball joint frts . but chevy never did a ball joint frt that i know.

ford axles are driver side pumpkin
dodge are coil spring frts
these are the ball joint series units.

he says it came out of a 87 k30. i am sure he thinks he has a d60, but it sounds like he actually has a 44. oh well, if it was a 60, i woulda got it right.

ya know the saying...:

if it sounds too good to be true.................

man that sure sucks though.

It would be a 10 bolt instead of a D44 if its not a D60..... I'd go look at it *just in case*

the front end is 8 lug and has ball joints. wouldn't that be a 44? the only problem with going to look at it is he is in rhode island and i am in kentucky. i will call him and ask for him to send pics i guess "just in case "

its a 44 or 10 bolt and or a newer 60 from a ford or dodge. send pics and see if the pumkin side is 2 ubolts or 1 ubolt and 2 bolts in the pad. also have him look for the 44 or 60 cast in the 1 corner web of the pumkin its on the frt side most of the time. the say 44-f or 60-f or something like that.

No, 10 bolts also came with 8 lug and ball joints and in 87 it would be a 10 bolt (in a 3/4 ton) or a D60 in a 1 ton OEM. Yeah if you could get photos that would be good, maybe the seller is confused about king pins :cool1:
