I know it\'s been covered but puttin back in spark plug wires?

Where's number one on the distributor? I know the firein order of 18436572 but apparently I'm an idiot and don't remember where number one is. Please help a moron out?

Thanks in advance.

It all depends on where the last person who had the disty out put it.... Technically it could be anywhere aroudn the cap.. But most people put it int he front right pointing at the #1 cylinder.

Bring the #1 cylinder up to TDC and pull the cap. Which ever connector the rotor is pointing to insode the cap, that is your #1....

Forgot to mention, also true with hei? Thanks Mike I'm by myself with no remote starter so findin tdc is hard. Spose I can turn the motor by hand but I'm not sure I have a wrench long enough. Oh and #1 is on the drivers side right?

Anytime. And you can use a long breaker bar or rachet with pipe on the crank bolt. I think it is a 5/8"... That will turn it over.

Purrin like a kitten again. Course a big ass kitten but a kitten all the same. The PO installed the dist. one tooth off I'm supposin as the number one "hole" is straight forward. Was all kinds of bummed last night as it started missin pretty bad and like I said earlier no runnin no workin no moneyin. /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

Thanks again for the confirmation that I'm as least on the road to recovery from moronland.

Now back to bein concerned about the rear end and the t-case.

Poor, poor Wimpy. She really shouldn't be a work truck. She needs to be parked for a bit and some TLC thrown at her.
