So my wife and three year old are coming along like last year and I plan to take them along on the trails when possible. They just get out and walk over any tough parts. Can anyone point out any trails that wouldn't be good to do that kinda thing? i.e. stay off of them?

So far the plan is Hells, Flat Iron, and Gold bar rim.

Have you run these trails before?

Hell's Revenge incorporates lots of super steep up and down stuff but its not too dangerous or anything. It is unsettling for newcomers. If your wife/kids are scared by very steep inclines and declines, there will be issues because that's pretty much the whole trail. Traction really isn't an issue, the main trail is easy. Its just that the ups and downs are much steeper than most people are used to.

I've never run Flat Iron Mesa but Gold Bar Rim would be fine for your description.

Getting out is more for their protection in case of a flop. I haven't run any of those trails before, so I just want to stay off of anything that would have them walking for 95% of the trail. Hells sounds like it's not a big deal in that regard.

you should be fine ive had my monsters wife me for the last three bb

My son rode with us in '05 and '07 on Hell's and he slept probably 1/3 of the trail. When he was awake, I was more worked up than he on the steep stuff. It's not bumpy which I know from experience seems to be the biggest thing young 'uns hate on the trail.

I agree with Chris, it'll be the steep stuff on Hell's I think they'd be most likely to detest.

In '05 we bought a sticker for my wife that she stuck on the passenger door. It reads, "NOT TOO PROUD TO WALK." :rotfl:

I don't think any of us have driven Flat Iron Mesa.
As far as I know there's a bypass route for the edge-of-a-cliff part.

Hell's is little off-camber or flop- potential provided you stay in the middle of the trail. Same for Gold Bar Rim.

Hey man you will be fine. Abreails been on Hells and fins and some others. Just take it easy don't leave them in when its to late.... Just have fun and stay between people you trust, youve been going to BB a few years now so you know who you can hang with. Ya'll should have a blast. Can't wait to C-ya
