I LIKE IT! But will it fit...

what year is your K5? if they make the tire carrier for the same body style pick-em-up then that will work. the gates for the pick-em-ups and the K5s of the same body style is the same. not sure on the newer trucks though.

1973.

I wonder how recently the gates were the same, meaning how old could a full-size pick-up be and still share my K5's gate?

It seems to be a nice way to carry a full-size spare, keep the rear seat, and still have room for junk...

i run a 76 pickup tailgate on my 86 k5. only thing i had to add were the bottom tailgate mounts and pickup hinges to my tailgate posts and the holes were already there for them

Well if anyone near me wants to try, I've got a bender and I'm sure we could come up with something in a day.

Saw those at the Off Road Expo. Was it me wanting something like that I'd add some serious gusseting to the 'fixed' bedside. We swung the one @ Expo open and it flexed the bedside a bit. Wouldn't take long b4 the bedside was floppin in the breeze when you opened it.

thanks for the link. I'm gonna build one in the next couple of weeks. If you look at the mount, it is U shaped and goes from side to side. Stronger I think.

Their part is U shaped, but it basically attaches where your tailgate pivots and latches bolt to the bedside and there are no other parts like a frame the goes from bedside to bedside.

mikey, I am in Anoka... about 1 hour north of the cities - you? (I remember a reference you made to Hudson, WI... I get down there once in a while)

I'm originally from New Ulm, about 1.5 hours from the cities and 30 or so miles NW of Mankato. Anoka is kinda on my way to Gilbert. :D
