Why do late model trashbucket Ford Trucks and Vans have to have KC Daylighters for headlights from the factory ? My ride height doesn't seem to make a difference, as I have noticed it in my other cars, too. To match the rest of the way those sh*trags are built, they should have flashlights taped to the hood instead. Hopefully, the ignition will catch on fire, the tires will blow off, or the transmission will fail on them (that one was for the Exploder idiots) before you have the joy of getting one behind you at night. Mustangs are probably the same way, but its hard to tell because the jackpipes that own them usually purchase headlight covers for their first performance upgrade. Do I seem bitter? I had the privilege of being tailgated home by a Ranger tonight. I feel better now.

Oh man, what a treat to work on. We had one in the shop that needed a new distributor. First of all, #1 plug is in a funny spot and second they have A.I.R. tubing put right in front of it to make it even more difficult. Add to that when we were bumping it to line it up for #1, the starter stuck and kept turning over. We had a Chinese fire drill trying to find a wrench to get the battery wire off.

Speaking of fires.... We do a little junking too and I've noticed we sure do bring in alot of burnt up Fords.

I was over at a buddys house. he was putting plugs in his 96 Thunder chicken. We couldn't believe it. one side of the engine used different plugs than the other. Go figure. Must be another one of fords better ideas.

Hmmm...ramblings of the ignorant? OK, so my original post was a little harsh. But I didn't think I was posting it in a F*rd newsgroup. Sure...if you're in the market, do your homework. To support the bottom line of my claim,though, I can site various Consumer Reports articles (not that I condsider those the bible by a longshot, but they do sometimes contain valuable info), list every TSB/recall since '91, share other fun stories I have from people I know have owned them, and point you in the direction of resale value, which by the way is laughable. And don't forget the $1,500-$2,000 transmission rebuild. This is a common practice. Yes, its common with 700R4's too, but at least you can do something about it when you rebuild them. You can't go out and buy "high performance solenoids". I often hear people talking proudly about how they have 100,000 miles on their vehicle. Great. Stop living by yesterday's standard. We have all seen 200,000 mile K5's...a simple design built vehicle....and hey, they may not be in great shape by then, but I'll give you a dollar for all of the Explorers with that kind of mileage on them. I'll save my off-pavement argument for a rainy day. Enjoy that new truck.

Three in my family all POS's and will not a one will last 150,000 miles without rebuilt engine or tranny...and escort you will not see one with more than 70,000 on a engine (or tranny for that matter. Funk a Ford

Too bad Ford is the only company that still makes real trucks--with straight axles and leaf springs!!

I wouldn't even consider a new Chevy!!
