Just got back from a stop by my buddy's house...

I rolled by, and saw him flailing about, under his Dodge.
Thinking the worst, I pulled up to see if he was okay.
He was fine. :thumb:

Apparently, he was on hour 4 of attempts to remove his Pitman Arm.
Broke the SHEEIT out of a pickle fork, or two.
Using the wrong sprays to break it free, etc.
Made me chuckle.... :thumb:

Went back to my house, grabbed my PITMAN ARM PULLER, and some PB bolt breaker.
Headed back.
Handed him both.
We had to 'modify' the pitman arm puller to fit the big-a$$ dodge Sector Shaft.

5 minutes later, the Pitman Arm was off. :pimp:

I accomplished, in 5 minutes, with knowledge;
What two guys couldn't achieve, in 4hrs, with brute strength. :haha:

Knowledge I acquired here... :waytogo:

Working at the hobby shop in yuma on base i see all the dodge guys have trouble with the darn pitman arm..

yeah well, sometimes those special "does one thing, only one thing, but does it well" kinda tools are worth the $$$

and a membership for other stuff, pigpen anyway :D

He said, and I quote:

"I posted a '911' post, on Cummins forum.
The only replies I got, all said 'heat is your friend'."

I thought to myself, "Just heat, huh?" :haha:

These Dodge-guys do EVERYTHING the hard way, first.... :D

At least you fellas describe what you would ACTUALLY do.... :waytogo:

lucky he didnt break the seal area on the box using pickle fork . those need to go bye bye 4lb hammer to the side works great.

and heat to the box would have melted his seals out .

and yes 1 item only tool is KING when its needed.

He was abusing that poor sector shaft pretty good, from what he said.
Prolly did ruin the seal.

He also mentioned the want for some kind of $500 steering box.
He said the company's name, but I forget stuff like that...
Apparently, this new box eliminates steering slop that is "common" in dodges.

I told him I was all for it....
I spent about $500 to fix my K5's steering.
So, that sounds about right. :dunno:

He's new to big trucks.
Just upgraded from a 4x4 Tacoma, to this 2500 Dodge Diesel.
Is fun to watch people learn, especially when it's not you.. :haha:

I should also mention that he was installing a 6" lift.
He's gonna stick with 35's.
Big fan of the "way too much tire-stickout", So-Cal look.
He showed me a pic of an identical rig.
Should be.... Interesting.

Whatever... If you got the money.

i just did a 6" lift in a 3/4 ton dodge and 35 look small.

also 500 for a built box :haha: good reman be a lot less. unless he is doing hydro assist and its built / tapped / and extras.

and every one of them 4link coil sprung dodges i have drivin feel like CRAP to me . WAY to sloppy in the front . so he better check the ride first before he tosses money at that box .

those trucks feel like your riding on a wet sponge to me. :doah:

The only thing I can think of would be the AGR box but that's only mid $300s I think. Hell I had 35s on leveling kit and thought it was perfect. A 6" could pull of 38-40s. With the right wheels

He would ideally be running 33x12.5's, on 20x14's, with a +44 offset.

He likes the tiny tires, that stick out REALLY far, on rims that are too wide. :dunno:
I don't get it, but hey, my truck looks like a cow.
To each their own.

I think it was the AGR box, and he said 350... I somehow got 450 and rounded up. :doah:
At any rate, he settled for a reman unit, and he's gonna do upgrades from there.

It's just a DD/ Tow Pig.
So, he's just gotta get the ride tolerable.

Eesh.
When I was big on CF, i saw a lot of that.
that cencalvalley look is hideous. Saw a bunch if guys that would have $5-10k in chrome and powder coating oif suspension components.

****s redonkulous

I know a had a pitman arm for a dodge on my 2wd box that was in my blazer, so your puller should have worked.

A steering box brace it the only way to fix the "slop" that even his new reman unit WILL have. It uses a shouldered nut and it captures the bottom side of the sector shaft in a pillow block style bearing. Very effective.

Yup. Well worth the money. Especially on 2 gens. That and an adjustable trac bar should be mandatory

It fit the arm.... It DID NOT fit the sector shaft. :waytogo:

He's getting the brace.
I think his is an 04 or 05

The brace will solve the problem. No fancy box needed. That should be the first upgrade to those trucks

I understood that it didn't fit the shaft, but did your puller work on your blazer? That's where my questions arose because the 2nd gen rams and our 2wd boxes use the same size and spline count.

This forum has taught me a bunch as well. I don't post to much but there's so so much to read and it's all real world real time problems.
