So today I seen a sweet K5 for sale, and it got me thinking. I loved my k5, and I had most of the parts to build another one. (because my title got turned into a dismantling permit)

Anyway to make a long story short I realized I wanted something with close to the same interior space (shot myself in the foot there crew cab is way smaller inside) About the same wheel base (nope its a lot longer than a K5) and to build it stronger all around (YAY I got that one right)

Funny once I broke it down like that, I thought crap I'm not building what I wanted. But then I realized the crew cab actually fits my needs after all because I can still camp in it it will be able to tow a fair amount. Its bigger outside and smaller inside but its not a whole lot in either aspect. It will have exterior cargo space to make up for the lack of space behind the rear seat of a blazer. AND it will be easier to gain access to the rear because it has 4 doors (no more climbing over seats to get in the back).

So although I fell in love with wheeling in a blazer, I'm optimistic that I will be happy with the crew cab when its done. I guess sometimes we let our brains get away from ourselves and start thinking counter productively. Any of you guys ever felt this way at some point in your builds?

Gp get a suburban body and make it fit the crew cab frame. viola! More interior space, 34" less wheelbase than the crewcab, and you can still tow with it. The perfect combination.

Yea lol but I'm already committed to this build. The wheelbase is about 134" so its similar to a regular cab long bed. It will have a 4 foot long bed when its done. The rear of the frame is bobbed to the spring perches I cut 5.5 feet off the frame and moved the axle as far forward as I could.

Sounds like my old crewcab. I moved the rear axle forward 23 13/16" forward and cut 4 feet of the rearend. I cut the roof off and put in a poorly bent cage too. I would post a pic, but they are on my computer and I am using my wife's right now.

Since we're spending your money...

Why not keep the CC as a tow/sometimes off-road vehicle and build the K5??
(Keep in mind that mine spends much more time parked in front of my house than on trails._

I don't tow, and I cannot get a title for my blazer and its already stripped and gutted.

I'm hoping I can daily drive thew crew cab and wheel in it both. I trying to build it too the point it just don't break doing what I do off road. I know I know its real hard to get the best of both worlds.

Well what I have decided to do is keep my Suburban like it is change some little things like rear bumper and a flip instead of blocks, maybe FI and then leave it alone. Then I am building the other Suburban that I have into Suburban/buggy cuz in the end thats what I want anyway.
