That's because the Government doesn't report any of it's use and isn't in the databases that the car history reports search.

Car history reports are useful at least for knowing the basics of a car's history. mrwilliamsburg was looking at a Toyota pickup a few months back and was told it was a rust free southern truck from Tennessee. When we looked up the history on it we found out it had spent more of it's 20 years in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Kentucky than Tennessee.
Several times I've learned useful things, including accidents and damage, that even the seller of whatever vehicle didn't know about.
Do they know everything? No. Do they know most of a vehicle's history? Yes.
Are they getting silly expensive now? Yes. That's why I've only paid for one in the past five years. Just ask around and someone will have the ability to get you one.
