I shatterd my spidergears in my 3/4 D44.so I was going to put a locker in instead of more spiders.
I'm thinking lock right might be a good choice.where is a cheap place to order them? I saw them for around $300.I thought they were cheaper?

Its an easy install , but with a d44 you need to pull the carrier , and then the ring gear if you expect the pinion shaft to come out . Did that before . At least being a front axle you won't have to mess with the damn c-clips falling out as you try to put em in the lunchbox :D

My neighbor had a lockrite for a 28 spline 10 bolt shipped for 215 to the door. I will have to ask where he bought his. I don't know if the 30 spline D44 will be the same price though...............

another Q?

do they make a mini spool for a 14FF?? prolly'but who sells them? TIA

Yes they do. I don't know off hand but I would try Randys Ring and Pinion.

Just a thought, why not just weld the 14ff? It will accomplish the same thing with a lot less money involved.

I opted for a Detroit for my 14ff due to the fact I did not want to wear my tires out any sooner than they already were:doah:

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' 'BOUT!! Throw some spiders in there from a 'yard, and weld it! Then weld the rear 2

You might look into the Aussie Locker for your front end. They are basically an improved lockrite, and are very affordable. They oughta have a D44 one by now.

As for the rear, I like detroits in the ff14b. If I wanted the rear end to be solid, I'd prolly install a Yukon full spool. Doesn't get any stronger than that... and with chromoshafts you'll prolly never break the thing in your lifetime.

I got the lockrite in my d44 and 12 bolt, they used to be under 200$ each in 2003 but doubt it will be that cheap any more. Saw them for 270.00 in summit but if you find them cheaper call summit anyhow they match competitors prices and have the fastest shipping ive experienced. D44 is a harder install then the 10 bolt or 12 bolt but if you know how to change an axleshaft then you can handle removing the ring gear off of the carrier. btw my lockrite ate up 5 axleshafts in 2 years and 3 center pins!!! Call randy's ring and pinion, they have hardened center pins for $15 and it is well worth it. Id get chromoly axles if your tire is over 35"!
